Ah, the mid-list. We're the authors whose books never quite earn royalties no matter how often we're told we've transformed readers' lives.

We write because we cannot not write. We write in between gigs that pay for our basic sustenance and, my case, pajamas and fluffy socks. I've been engaged in this craziness since 1998.
